Trumpeter Sturer Emil page 3
My attention now turned to the Fighting Compartment. The kit provides these annoying locater outlines for all the interior equipment. These had to be removed methodically to avoid seeing them in the final build. I choose to locate the equipment based on Voyager’s suggestions rather than the kit locations. Although in hindsight, the only shots of the interior fighting compartment agree with Trumpeter’s locations.
I also used Verlinden’s Radio set. The directions call for the radios to be mounted on the side wall. However, if this were the case, there would be nowhere for the TC to sit. Voyager suggests moving the seat, but this would make the seat behind the bulkhead stiffener and this also seems unlikely. In AFV Modeler, there was a very nice research article. In this, it eluded to some weld marks on the front of the fighting compartment. So, I went with this. However, to get this to fit correctly, I had to use a bastardization of Verlinden and Voyager parts plus some scratch built components. Lots of work and hassle for something you can’t see when the model is assembled.
